Moving on..

It's time for a change! I'm taking all of the high heels and all of the previous post, squeezing them into one huge moving box and taking them with me to my new place: heelsoholic.com

So now I''m ordering you to grab your stilettos and join me! :-)

Please? Pretty please? I've got cookies....

Ugly shoe of the week

It seems like light-up shoes aren't just for kids anymore!
The legendary Jimmy Choo took the concept of flashing and glowing sneakers for kids and then transferred the idea to high heels for adults.. It might have seem like a good idea at the time but in my opinion it just fell flat. What do you guys think?

The Lobsters!

Ever since I wrote about the Alexander McQueen "Lobster heels"  I just haven't been able to get them out of my head! They're so far from what I would ever wear but I still kinda like them... They've grown on me during the last couple of months and among with his Faithful bootie and Faithful peep-toe pump I think they're going to be the designs that I'll remember him for the most.
Therefore it's really nice to see that the Lobsters are now starting to show up on the red carpet :-)

Motivation: They're not just ugly, they're green!  (Yes, I've got a big problem with the color green...)

Beauty And The Beast

Due to the fact that I often see both gorgeous and horrible shoes from the same brand I decided that I have to write about the variation in design that can be found on the market. It's really entertaining to see how they stretch from really awful and ugly to true gorgeous and sucessful heels.

First out is Dsquared2, a brand that seems to really enjoy taking their designs to the limit. For example I've spotted the two pair of heels below and I could hardly believe that they're from the same brand...

The black studded sandals are just amazing and if I could afford then I would buy them right away. Just look at the heel!

Here on the other hand we have something that I'm highly unwilling to even call shoes. What's up with the color and why do the upper part look like an old skishoe?

Admit it, you've been waiting for this all week long haven't you?

I love patent leather pumps, I love the color pink (especially in combination with black) and I like peep-toes... And still these heels look horrible even from my point of view.

Cinderella

Raise a hand if you ever dressed out and pretended to be a princess from time to time when you were growing up.
Oh yes, I raised my hand too.. Although I have to say that it wasn't something I did a lot, I was more into boyish games and sports, but it did, indeed, happen. To tell you the truth this hasn't happened in maany maaany years (at least one.. ;-) ) But ever since I first saw the Cinderella heels from Fendi I've felt a very strong urge to become Cinderella for a night or two.

I think we all agree that transparant platforms is most suiteable for strippers and "exotic dancers" (I'm still trying to define the difference..) but come on, let's be honest here, you'd just love to try them on wouldn't you?
I'm overwhelmed by the first pair but they seem hard to find a price on anywhere.. The other pair isn't quite as romantic and fairytale-like but imo they still look amazing!

I know I'm not being objective at all about this one since I really can't stand the color green on anything and especially not on shoes.. But let's be reasonable here, no one can find these heels attractive! Right..?
Just to show you that I'm not a completely unreasonable person I'll tell you that I would consider wearing them if I ever were to dress out as santas little helper...

Sandals!

I know that I've said before that I really don't care much for sandals but honestly, who can resist getting just a couple of pairs when the sun is shining and the snow is slowely but safely melting away?

Besides, I got these for about $30 which can't be considered anything else but a bargain..

To be completely honest I fell for the buckles right away...

Finally!

Everyone has been telling me to go for the boring alternative: a bed.
The problem is that according to them I can't just buy any bed. Nooo, I need to buy an expensive bed "because it's an important thing to invest in and you'll use it for years to come!" Blahblaha...

Of course I'm going to buy a bed (I just need to point out that I'm doing it mainly for Hubbie and his back..) but it's still fun to read comments like this and see that I've got at least one person on my side.

Eric said: Go for the tribtoos, the new bed can wait !!!!

Well, i did it for my GF, and none of us did regret it. ;)

Eric, it's always nice to hear from you and I'm counting on you being there to help me justify my decision the day I do decide to spend $800 on a pair of heels ;-)

lördag 27 mars 2010

I could buy a new bed. Or...

1 pair of YSL tribtoos
or
20 pair of $25 dollar heels from GoJane
or
1 shoe (right or left, it's your choice!) of the McQueen Faithful Bootie
 or
Half a shoe (I'd definitely go for the part with the heel on the left shoe) of the Louboutin Lady Claude

A new bed or....

Just recently I've noticed a funny thing about the twisted way that my mind works. Whenever people talk about money or I'm about to buy something expensive this is what I do: I start by making a quick calculation in my head to see how much something is worth "in shoes". Often I go to this little happy place in the back of my head and starts dreaming about what specific pair of heels I could by for that amount of money. For example I often find myself counting things in YSL Tribtoos...

Right now there's a tiny struggle inside of my head regarding a new bed.. The sane and reasonable part of me knows that a bed is the right way to go since we obviously need a new one and it's pretty important to have a comfortable bed (That's what I've been told anyway..) The less reasonable part on the other hand is now suffering from a severe case of agony due to the fact that I was stupid enough to start to think about exactly how much a new bed is worth "in shoes". Big mistake. Biiiig mistake....

Ugly shoe of the week

It always amazes me to see how much money you can charge for ridiculously ugly shoes just by putting a famous name on them. Let's be honest here, I wouldn't wear them even if I got paid to do so but I just might accept them as a gift just to be able to tell people about my $1000 Maison Martin Margielas. That's exactly how corny I am.. Corny but honest. At least that's worth something isn't it...?

I wrote about the knotted Burberry Prorsum sandals a while back and now I've finally found a pretty nice budget alternative at the all so wonderful GoJane.com

If  you combine a kitchen curtain with a couple of buckled straps in a disturbingly yellow color this is what you get. They're pretty original but that's just not enough for me.

torsdag 11 mars 2010

Yesterday I spent two hours running from store to store, trying to find something for hubbies birthday tomorrow. Every now and then I just happened to run past various shop-windows displaying drool causing, gorgeous high heels. This resulated in a few, not planned for, stops in the above mentioned shops and I had to keep on reminding myself that it's not my birthday I'm shopping for (Unfortunately..) After a short stop in this tiny little shop (completely called for btw, they just happened to have a sale!) with beautiful heels from Friis & Co I couldn't help but wondering if Tom would mind getting a pair of heels for his birthday... I mean, who wouldn't get excited to get these with a big bow wrapped around them?

With an overdose of gold, a woven design and a horrible, horrible wedge this is without a doubt the ugliest shoes that I've seen in the past week (as a matter of fact they might just be the ugliest things I've ever seen before...)

The dangers of shoe shopping

When I was standing in the shower yesterday and shampooing my hair I suddenly felt a sore bump the size of a quarter. It took me a while to go through the previous hours of the day in my head, trying to figure out what may have caused this tiny injury. Suddenly I remembered the little incident the day before when I was fighting my way through a shoe sale (-70% in a really small store, accidents are bound to happen) Well, what happend was that I was looking at a pair of heels at a shelf positioned about half a meter from the floor, I bent down to look at them and on my way back up I forgot that there was another shelf over this one and I banged my head in one of the sharp and hard corner edges.

Of course there's a lesson to be learnt here: Shopping for shoes IS a dangerous hobby and a helmet should always be the minimum standard equipment when elbowing through a sale. On sales with a 50% discount or more full body armor is recommended.

Eventhough I'm still questioning the style of them some of you might just love the Louboutin Fringe cutout boots. If this is the case but your wallet just seems to be a little bit to thin right now you can always check out this great alternative! If I ever decide that I do like them I'll definitely go for the cheaper wannabes since they look pretty decent. Besides, who can argue with a price like that?

Ugly shoe of the week

It breaks my heart to say this but it sure needs to be said: These are truly the definition of ugly!
How is it possible that a guy like Louboutin (the man behind these beauties) can be responsible for designing such an ugly shoe?
